From the Admissions Office
Thank you for your interest in Green Mountain Valley School. Since 1973, GMVS has proven to be an unparalleled success academically and in ski racing. Our students have a high level of commitment to academic and athletic excellence. Racers in every age group routinely compete and succeed in prestigious events such as the Whistler Cup International, J2 Nationals, Junior Nationals and Junior World Championships. Dozens of GMVS alumni have raced for the US and other national teams, in the Olympics, and in the World Championships. In addition, GMVS graduates consistently attend and thrive at the most competitive colleges, achieving excellence in class and for NCAA ski teams.
Students come from around the globe to our beautiful, state of the art campus, which is located a short distance from several Nordic and Alpine training venues. The recently expanded library accommodates group and individual study areas and technologically “smart” classrooms which are invaluable to students while they are away for training and racing.
At GMVS, we require a tremendous amount of commitment to both ski racing and academics, yet we strongly encourage other activities. In the fall, much of the school participates in a musical theater production. GMVS soccer and lacrosse teams play full season schedules against other Vermont schools, culminating in the Vermont Principals’ Association playoffs. We offer classes in photography and visual arts, and support students who have outside interests and hobbies.
For some the decision to attend a ski academy is obvious, for others perplexing. Our job in the admissions office is to guide you through this process. We strongly encourage all prospective students to come and visit us in the winter months. Your visit will include an on-snow training session, tour of campus, lunch, and meetings with the Headmaster, the Head Coach, and the Dean of Academics.
Please contact the admissions office to schedule your visit.
