Dave has been coaching at GMVS since 1978. He was GMVS’s Women’s Head Coach from 1979 through 1986, and Assistant Headmaster from 1980 through 1983. He served as Headmaster from 1984 through 1986 before moving on to coach the USST Women’s Speed Team from 1986 through 1989. He was selected as a World Championship Team coach for Crans Montana (1987) and Vail (1989), and as an Olympic Team coach for Calgary (1988). Since 1989 Dave has served GMVS as Headmaster and as a coach. Dave also brought musical theater to GMVS, and other than his-three year sabbatical with the USST, Dave has directed every show GMVS has produced. A graduate of Middlebury College with a B.A. in Economics and History, Dave lives in Waitsfield with his wife, former German Ski Team member Traudl Haecher Gavett, and their two ski racing sons.
