Sparks Krebs, Amanda
Amanda grew up in Maryland and graduated with a B.A. majoring in English and minoring in Secondary Education from Goucher College/John’s Hopkins University. In her early career, Amanda taught Honors English at Northwestern High School in Maryland. Eventually she moved to Ludlow, Vermont where she worked as the Learning Needs Tutor and Winter Program Tutor for the Okemo Mountain School. Since 1994, Amanda has taught a variety of classes at GMVS including Russian Literature, Detective Fiction, and Contemporary Literature. She is the mother of two daughters, both GMVS alumnae who each skied for the US Ski Team, and the University of Vermont. As a result, Amanda is highly sensitive to the learning needs of the student athlete. In recent years she has left the classroom to develop an Academic Support Program at GMVS, emphasizing self-advocacy, the Writing Process, and time management and study skills. Amanda is a published member of the Vermont Poetry Society. She is Irish born and divides her time between Vermont, Ireland and France.
