GMVS Training Facilities
On Snow Facilities
Inverness Trail: Main Training VenueGMVS is conveniently positioned in the Mad River Valley. With the first
snowfall, students move to the school’s facility at Sugarbush Resort
for practice on a number of trails. Alpine athletes utilize
both Lincoln Peak and Mount Ellen areas at Sugarbush training on several different trails on a
rotating basis. The Inverness trail provides an excellent Slalom,
Super G and GS venue and is the home of the GMVS Poma lift. GMVS owns
and maintains a renovated and newly expanded Alpine Training Center
located at the base of Mount Ellen. GMVS athletes often visit Middlebury College Snow Bowl and Mad River Glen
for specific technique or discipline work. Middlebury Snow Bowl, home
of the NCAA Middlebury College Ski Team, provides for 3 safe and varied
training trails including a fully b-netted challenging GS training
slope. Mad River Glen provides a slope with a vary quick turn around
for slalom training.
The Doug Parker Memorial Gym and Sports Center

The Doug Parker Memorial Gymnasium, an industry first amongst ski academies, continues to impress all who visit and use its facilities. As the general hub of the GMVS athletic program it houses coach's offices, regeneration/stretching facility, Poulin Performance Physical Therapy, Olympic weight lifting facility, the Technical Ski Room, Video Analysis Center, and full time, on-site under its large arched ceiling, the space allows for multiple activities as well as several divided and separate activities. Refurbished during the Spring of 2006 the structure features two volley ball courts, a basketball court, spinning rooms, renovated mezzanine areas, and weight lifting rooms.
