Nordic News
February 5, 2012 ~ The Nordic team had a busy weekend of racing at Trapps, as the Eastern Cup series teamed up with the Super Tour and the UVM carnival to provide a fantastic pair of events. Saturday brought the 5k classic races, and junior Heidi Halvorsen had an impressive race, finishing second for the JIs and 14th overall in an incredibly strong field. PG MK Cirelli was 6th for the OJ group. In the men’s 10k race, Dylan Grald took 10th place for the home squad, while Dartmouth’s David Sinclair was 6th for the OJs. Sunday presented the skating races, and it was again Heidi Halvorsen making noise, taking second for the J1s in the 10k race. MK Cirelli completed a solid weekend, finishing 9th in her age class, with Middlebury’s Emily Stitt ’10 taking 12th. Middlebury(and GMVS) alumna Robyn Anderson mixed it up with the young guns, taking second place for the senior ladies as well. In the men’s race, junior Devlin Shea jumped in to 12th for the JIs.
The team has been working out with a great group of flex termers this week, and will host an event with the Harwood middle school team on Wednesday on the upper field. The Harwood squad has been snookered by the weather and is in need of a race, so our crew is happy to oblige. The track is in great shape and it should be fun!
