Spinning to a Cure

May 10, 2011 ~ On Sunday a large crowd of aerobically talented folks hopped on the spinning bikes in and around the Doug Parker Sports Center to complete a mammoth fundraising effort to benefit the Livestrong Foundation. According to event organizer Sandy Vietze ’11, 48 riders toiled for a total of 74 hours on the spinning bikes, led by instructors Doug Lewis ’82, Jim Komarmi, Steve Utter, Justin Beckwith and Vinnie Scalia ’06. Most riders rode for one hour, with several completing 2 hours. One rider hung in for 4 hours straight! The event tallied over $3100, and that figure is still rising as more donations come in.
