XC Team Turns Heads

Over Hill and Dale

The cross country team ran in the prestigious Woods Trail Run at Thetford Academy yesterday, taking on the 5k course in a steady rain and against nearly 2500 other runners from throughout New England. In the boys’ race, senior David Sinclair showed good form in finishing 14th out of 962 runners. He was also the 3rd Vermont finisher, which bodes well for the state championship race in a few weeks, which will be contested on the same course. The team, composed of Sinclair, Ryley Walker ’11, Daniel Moore ’10, Hans Halvorsen ’12 and Alec McGovern ’10 finished 38th out of 60 teams in the event, and impressive finish for a first-year team! In the middle school race, Tanner McGrath ’14 ran to an equally impressive 22nd-place finish, out of 133 runners. The girls’ team did not have enough runners to qualify as a team, but was led by Elena Lüthi ’11 who finished 139th of 174 runners. The team will run next in the Harwood Invitational on October 17th.
